So much so for the White Collars

I've this love and hate relationship providing my service to the corporates. They are indeed a group of interesting working groups. Sometimes, when we feel the pinch of paying for the classes, we make sure we attend all the session religiously. But when the company is bearing the full cost, we slack it off!

On my side, i've no material loss. I still get paid even if no one turn up, or even just one or two. And i can keep on repeating the same practice for 10 times. However, there's not much progression over the other end. Which is not what i want, in any case.

The first time when i starting interacting with the corporate groups, i laid down a condition for myself: Progression. I'll bring yoga to you in exchange for your commitment. Yes, its a transaction.... I call: The White Collars Approach.

Things have been going pretty well, or turning better. Yes, i choose... i pick groups who make the effort of bringing their yoga gears to work, who make the effort to leave their desk and work when the clock strikes, who wants to spend some quality time to relax and with themselves, who choose to stay back after working hour for the practice, who willing to take a shorter lunch break to come into the mat.... weekly, discipline and commitment.

I'm not all excited by how much they benefit from the practice. But i am just happy how some of them came up to me after class to tell me more about their conditions; because thet started to care about themsleves.  That how they manage to gain back a little of the freedom of movements after attending few sessions.

How they believe that they can actually slowly break away from the discomforts and pains that they had been suffering in silence for all those years. And starting to get curious and digging deeper into their practices; these make them want to continue and sustain on the mat.

Yes, i am happy for their acceptance of my invitation of yoga practices to them. That they enjoy a few laughs every week with all other collegues outside work matters. That everyone is the same.... no CEO, no Manager, no Admin staff, no Boss, no GM. Everyone is the same on the mat, we are all teachers and students:)

A reflection from Evolution 2011

It's was a great 4 days attending various talks and workshops by great teachers coming from around the world. My brain sort of jam-packed with so much information... yet to sort out.
Their teachings, somewhere push me further deeper into myself; that almost like drilling into my core.
This trip was surely a fruitful ones, it sets me thinking, a lot--- not so much about the asanas, rather who i really am.

Rodney,  impressed by how open and honest he could be, with regard to his year long practices. That being truthful and following his breath in his practice--- may not neccesarily give him the "wow" of vinyasa; which he used to be able to do it on videos. But so what? He emphazied that " Yoga, is not contortionism."

Great light-hearted teachers:
Jason nemer, who started his class with a nice chant strumming the guitar lele.. love that! Partnering works, that " no man is an island", we help one another to fulfil our dreams. How we work hard for something easier, no harder. Handstand challanging by itself, that gathers so much fear before it is perform. Partner support, trust comes in, to make things so much easier.

Martin kirk, a real happy man. For his "power of love by saying NO"--- tapping from the arts of parenting ( with his boy, jonathan). And how such concept can apply to our lives, relationships and arm- balances.

i love how Sadie talked about our inner core, much beyond the abdominal muscles group. We want not the physical six-pacs, we want the strength within, and the softness in the skin. Being just who we are totally, not having to please others, why should we? Yes, and of course practices in rock music:)
Are our action supported by fear or truth?--- Satya.

i adore the fact that each teacher comfortable with how different they are from the rest. Holding on to the authenticity of their beliefs and grind them through for years--- because they have such strong faith with what they are doing--- Shraddha.

There's no miracle in yoga. No such thing as being lucky. Its purely quiet hard work and persistence that people do no see. Its about how to be ourselves--- original.
